La Grande Muette

In 2008, I spent a month embedded with the French army on a EUFOR mission to set up border security between Chad and Sudan. “La Grande Muette,” or “The Great Mute” is a euphemism for the French army, which typically remains mum and somewhat of a mystery to the public. The rare access I was granted allowed me to pursue a personal project documenting the day to day of life of military personnel.
