Cambodian opposition party leader, Sam Rainsy returned to his country just a week ahead of the July 28 general elections after 4 years of self-imposed exile. A royal pardon granted him immunity from defamation charges drawn up against him in 2010. The opposition has refused to accept the election commission’s conclusion of a ruling party majority win, citing widespread vote rigging and disenfranchisement. I spent election day travelling about the capital with the opposition leader and his wife.
